Formula E Unveils Record-Breaking 21-Race Calendar for the Start of the GEN4 Era

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has officially unveiled its provisional calendar for the 2026-27 season, marking the beginning of the highly anticipated GEN4 era with a record-breaking 21 races across 13 cities worldwide.
The new season will be the biggest in Formula E history, introducing several iconic venues to the Championship showcasing the new generation of all-electric racing machinery set to redefine performance, technology and sustainability.
The 2026-27 campaign will be the first season for Formula E’s all-new GEN4 car. Delivering up to 600kW (815hp), active all-wheel drive and acceleration from 0-60mph (0-100kph) in just 1.8 seconds, GEN4 represents the most powerful and fastest Formula E car ever built.
For Andretti Formula E, the new era presents an exciting challenge as the team prepares to compete with the next generation of electric racing technology when the season gets underway later this year.
Record Calendar Features New Destinations
The Championship will visit several new venues during Season 13, giving Andretti Formula E two home races with the addition of the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas and the return to Miami, where Felipe Drugovich qualified second this season, alongside a debut at Zandvoort in the Netherlands.
Fans in the United Kingdom will also see Formula E move to one of the country’s most historic motorsport venues, with the London E-Prix relocating to Brands Hatch for a doubleheader event in May. For the first time in the Championship’s history, Berlin and Monaco will also run as back-to-back weekends, as will Zandvoort and Madrid, giving fans four straight weekends of Formula E action to watch.
The 21-race calendar will begin with a night race doubleheader in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on December 18-19, 2026 before traveling across North America, South America, Europe and Asia. The season will then close with a doubleheader in Tokyo on July 24-25, 2027.
New Race Format for Doubleheader Weekends
Alongside the introduction of GEN4, Formula E will launch a new race format for doubleheader events. Traditional E-Prix races will continue to focus on energy management, strategy and PIT BOOST, while a new sprint-style format called E-PrixUnleashed will showcase the unrestricted performance capabilities of the GEN4 car in a shorter, high-intensity race.
The combination is designed to provide fans with two distinct styles of racing over a single weekend, blending Formula E’s trademark strategic battles with pure performance racing.
Formula E will also introduce an updated Championship points system for qualifying, rewarding outright speed and giving drivers an added incentive to push for the front of the grid. The revised format is designed to place greater value on qualifying performance while maintaining the strategic depth that has become a hallmark of the series.
The season calendar remains subject to FIA approval and final confirmation.
