Race Report: 2026 Miami E-Prix

On-Track Notes
- Rookie driver Dennis Hauger kicked off Andretti Formula E’s home race in Miami with a productive Free Practice 0 session, taking the checkered flag in seventh. Full-time drivers Jake Dennis and Felipe Drugovich made their first outing to the Miami International Autodrome circuit later that day in Free Practice 1 finishing 13th and 18th, respectively.
- Following the morning’s Free Practice 2 session, both Andretti Formula E drivers were in Group B of Qualifying with Drugovich managing to advance to the Duels though teammate Dennis missed out. The Brazilian advanced all the way to the Final Duel, narrowly missing out on Pole Position to Porsche Formula E team’s Nico Mueller.
- The Andretti Formula E team’s front row start tally increases to 28 thanks to Drugovich’s second-place Qualifying result.
- After a Safety Car period before a standing start to the E-Prix on Lap 5, the No. 28 Andretti Porsche 99X Electric opted for an early Attack Mode and took the lead. Drugovich spent the first half of the race trading positions in the top four to be mindful of energy, however a collision with Jaguar TCS Racing’s António Félix da Costa on Lap 26 effectively ended his race. After a 10-second time penalty for the collision, the Brazilian finished in 18th.
- On the other side of the garage, teammate Dennis tactically saved energy at the rear of the field in order to build up a positive offset to the cars ahead. Taking late Attack Modes, the British driver was able to make his way into the top-10 and take home one Championship point.
- Due to the race starting under Safety Car for wet conditions, the 2026 Miami E-Prix had two added laps, taking the race total to 41.
- With Drugovich leading 6 laps, it takes the Andretti Formula E team’s total laps led count to 460 with Dennis’ tenth-place taking the team’s top-10 finishes to 133.
- The American-flag team leave the 2026 Miami E-Prix fourth place in the Teams’ Championship standings with 37 points.

Qualifying
- Dennis was unable to progress into the Duels during Qualifying, placing eighth overall.
Race
- Starting from 15th, Dennis strategically conserved energy to be able to spend more power fighting his way to the front during the closing stages of the E-Prix. Using a late Attack Mode strategy aided the British driver’s attempt to make his way through the field in the wet conditions, as the No. 27 driver made his way into the top 10 to salvage a point from a difficult weekend.
- Dennis’ top 10 finish marks his 53rd career top 10 and moves him only two Championship points away from reaching a career total of 700 points.
- The result moves the Brit down one position in the Driver’s Championship standings to third, just three points from the leader.
“A bit of a difficult day for us in Miami to be honest. We didn’t really have much performance at all and it felt as if we qualified where we deserved to be. I had a pretty clean race with no mistakes, no contact and it was the first time in a while that I felt good in the car during wet conditions – so happy we actually found some performance in that respect. As a team, I know that we can turn things around in a couple of weeks for Jeddah.”

Qualifying
- Drugovich made his first Qualifying Duels appearance after finishing fourth in Group B.
- The Brazilian driver was able to advance all the way into the Final Duel, beating DS Penske’s Taylor Barnard by 0.001 thousandths of a second in the Quarter Final and Jaguar’s da Costa in the Semi-Final.
- Drugovich missed out on claiming Pole Position by less than a tenth against Porsche’s Mueller, but secured his first ever Formula E front-row start.
Race
- Drugovich took Attack Mode at the very first opportunity on Lap 5 after the Safety Car period ended, taking advantage of the extra 50kWh of power and all-wheel drive to take the lead of the E-Prix.
- In the wet race conditions, unfortunately the Brazilian driver went too deep into the heavy breaking zone of Turn 13 on Lap 26 and collected Jaguar’s da Costa in the process. As a result, the No. 28 pitted for a new front wing and received a 10-second time penalty.
- The incident effectively ended Drugovich’s race as he brought the car home in 18th overall.
- During the 2026 Miami E-Prix, the No. 28 driver led 6 laps.
“Overall it’s been a mixed day. We were able to make it into the Duels for the first time and I felt good in the car. The race was going pretty well until the crash. I braked a little bit later than da Costa and ended up hitting him. It’s a shame but there’s a lot of positive to take from this weekend. We had the pace to fight at the front, which makes the result even more frustrating, but at the end of the day the learnings we took from Miami are good. Hopefully we can take everything into Jeddah.”

Roger Griffiths
Team Principal

“While we can consider this weekend as extremely successful as far as the launch of the new TWG AI partnership goes, there is a feeling of disappointment that we weren’t able to deliver the race result that we had hoped for.
We were able to make some progress with Felipe this weekend with a great qualifying result and strong overall pace in both dry and wet conditions – so we’re very pleased with that. In the race, he showed good pace running at the front, leading his first Formula E race, but unfortunately a little bit of a misjudgment under breaking into the hairpin ended his race.
On the other side of the garage Jake will be the first to admit that starting that far back is not what we had planned for. The race ended up being a little bit wetter than we’d anticipated, and I think that caught us out a bit with a strategy that we were running with Jake. We were holding back, hoping to have an energy advantage, which didn’t transpire to be as advantageous as we had hoped for. It’s been to be racing in Miami and a big thank you to everyone whop helped make this event happen.”
