Andretti Teams Hunt for First Road Course Victories of 2026 at Road America

Following a week off, Andretti Global’s INDYCAR and INDY NXT teams return to on-track action this weekend at Road America. Established in 1955, Road America is located midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Its legendary 4.014-mile, 14-turn permanent road circuit has challenged the world’s best racers for over half a century.
The Andretti INDYCAR team arrives in Wisconsin coming off a strong weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway, where Marcus Ericsson earned his best result of the season in second while Kyle Kirkwood and Will Power each finished in the top eight. The Andretti INDY NXT team also returns to competition after Josh Pierson secured a podium finish in St. Louis as the team prepares for a doubleheader weekend at Road America. With positive momentum, both teams will look for their first road course wins of the season.

Fast Facts

INDYCAR
- Since INDYCAR’s return to Road America in 2016, Andretti Global’s INDYCAR team has collected one win (Rossi – 2019), two poles (Rossi – 2019, C. Herta – 2023), five podium finishes, 14 top-five results, 19 top-10 finishes and 117 laps led.
Will Power
- Returning to Road America for the 14th time, Will Power brings a long history of success to the Wisconsin road course. When INDYCAR returned to the four-mile circuit in 2016, the Australian earned both the pole and victory and has gone on to collect two wins, one pole, six top-five finishes and 85 laps led at the track.
- Last year, Power found himself in the top five by Lap 5 before pitting under caution on Lap 11 and restarting 11th. After being forced off track on Lap 14, he worked his way back inside the top 10 before making his second stop on Lap 23 for fuel and tires. A spin in Canada Corner a few laps later dropped the Australian back. Despite being off the preferred strategy during the 55-lap event, Power wasn’t able to recover positions until late in the race, ultimately finishing 14th.
Kyle Kirkwood
- After earning a career-best start and finish at Road America in 2025, Kyle Kirkwood returns to the Wisconsin circuit for the fifth time looking to build on that momentum.
- Leading Andretti Global’s INDYCAR team to the green last season from third, Kirkwood held position through a yellow on the opening lap before running wide in Canada Corner to avoid an on-track incident that dropped him back to sixth. The Florida native later took the lead by Lap 24 before running wide again and allowing the No. 7 to reclaim the top spot. An untimely yellow shortly after his second pit stop then cost the No. 27 track position, but Kirkwood fought back to take the checkered in fourth. This result marked his second consecutive top five at Road America.
Marcus Ericsson
- Coming off a podium finish at WWTR, Marcus Ericsson will make his ninth start at Road America this weekend. Since his rookie debut at the track in 2019, Ericsson has earned a runner-up finish and finished outside the top 10 only twice.
- In his most recent start at Road America, Ericsson took the green from 14th and moved up to 13th before the race’s second yellow on Lap 4. Just over 10 laps in, the Swede reported understeer, and the No. 28 stand called Ericsson in for his first pit stop on Lap 12. With multiple strategies playing out across the field, Ericsson managed tires and fuel throughout the 55-lap race, but untimely yellows limited opportunities to gain track position. He ultimately took the checkered flag in 21st.

INDYCAR Team Quotes
Will Power
No. 26 TWG AI Honda
“Road America is a track I’ve always enjoyed. We had a test there, so hopefully that puts us in a good spot heading into the weekend. We’ve got the speed, and if we can put everything together, I think we’ll have a good opportunity to fight near the front and go after our first win of the season with the TWG AI crew.”

Kyle Kirkwood
No. 27 Sam’s Club Honda
“Road America is always a favorite stop on the schedule. We’ve only gotten better at permanent road courses, so hopefully that stays true for this weekend. It’s always a great race in the middle of the season, so I’m looking forward to the weekend.”

Marcus Ericsson
No. 28 Delaware Life Honda
“Road America is one of the best and most beautiful tracks in North America. I’ve had some good success there over the years with strong finishes and podiums. It’s just a fun track to race at and a great place to be. I’m excited to get back there and continue the strong momentum we have after a great finish in St. Louis.”

Ron Ruzewski
Team Principal

“Road America is a favorite among the drivers due to the different types of corners it presents and all the details you need to get right over the course of a four-mile track. Speeds are high, and a good handling car is needed to separate yourself from the competition. Fortunately, we tested at Road America less than two weeks ago in preparation for this weekend’s race. We hope to turn that valuable test time into results. Showing up with fast cars and an opportunity to win each week is what’s going to keep us in this championship fight.”
