CARB DAY REPORT: 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge

Practice Notes
- The scene is set for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500, after Andretti INDYCAR joined the rest of the field for the Carb Day practice session for final race-day adjustments ahead of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing on Sunday.
- After the two-hour final practice session came to a close, Colton Herta and the Gainbridge crew took on the the Carb Day pit stop session. Despite making it through the first round, Herta and his crew were eliminated in Round 2 by Newgarden.
- As focus shifts tomorrow to off-track traditions in the lead-up to Sunday’s 500-mile race, the Andretti INDYCAR stable will not see on-track action again until the green flag waves on Sunday afternoon for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge.
- With the decision being made to lift the local TV blackout for Central Indiana, all viewers, regardless of location, can tune into FOX’s pre-race show at 10 AM ET, followed by official race coverage on FOX at 12 PM ET.
Practice Results
Colton Herta
No. 26 Gainbridge Honda

P21
Top Speed | 222.731 MPH |
“It was another productive day, and I’m happy with how the Gainbridge Honda felt. We were able to get through everything that we wanted to, and I felt competitive in the process. Hopefully everything will lead to a strong Sunday for us.”

Kyle Kirkwood
No. 27 Siemens Honda

P15
Top Speed | 223.001 MPH |
“I think we’ve crossed everything off our list and we’re ready for the race. Overall, I still feel very happy with the race pace of the Siemens Honda. It’s not easy out there. I think it was maybe tougher today than we thought it was going to be, and I imagine everybody kind of felt that way. However, the pace is really high. It’s going to be hard to pass cars from the position that we’re starting, but I believe in this team. We’ll just have to play our cards right.”

Marcus Ericsson
No. 28 Allegra® Honda

P19
Top Speed | 222.749 MPH |
“It was another good practice. I think the No. 28 Allegra crew did a good job putting the car in a good spot. Obviously, weather conditions are a bit different now with the cooler temps, so it will be similar to race day. We did a couple of small changes to try and read the conditions, and after that, I just did a long run to get a feel for what it will be like on Sunday. I was really happy on that run, did some good overtakes and just felt comfortable in the car. I told the 28 guys to just sit down, polish the car and then bring it to the race on Sunday. We know what we have, and I am excited to go race with it.”

Marco Andretti
No. 98 MAPEI / CURB Honda

P17
Top Speed | 222.809 MPH |
“We’re good, same as Monday. It’s just slow, but we’re doing our part. The MAPEI / CURB Honda feels good. If the track position materializes, I think we can keep it. It’s just speed we’re lacking, but we’ll be ready to go on Sunday.”

Rob Edwards
Chief Operating Officer

“This is just the type of carb day that I like: nice and quiet, and no dramas. All four Andretti cars got through everything on their checklists, and now we’ll go and enjoy the Pit Stop competition and then get ready for Sunday.”
