Salvador de Alba to Join Andretti INDY NXT for 2025 Season

Following his debut INDY NXT by Firestone season with Andretti Cape INDY NXT, Salvador de Alba will enter his second season in 2025, this time with Andretti INDY NXT. This transition is a part of de Alba’s two-year agreement with the team that was announced at the beginning of this year.

“The 2024 season with Andretti Cape INDY NXT was super positive for me. I’ve learned a lot from my time with the Cape’s, and I am grateful for getting to spend my rookie year with them in the INDY NXT by Firestone Series,” said de Alba. “I would like to start next season with similar results to how we ended this year, and I’ll work as hard as I can to achieve that. I plan to put all that knowledge into the 2025 season with the Andretti INDY NXT team. I’d like to thank my sponsors Grupo Indi, Red Cola, Mecano and ZMotors for believing in this project, and Michel Jourdain for putting it together.”

Coming off the success of two Championship titles in 2023 (NASCAR Peak Mexico Series and Super Copa GTM), de Alba joined Andretti INDY NXT’s technical partner team, Andretti Cape INDY NXT, for the team’s debut season in the final step of the American, open-wheel development series. De Alba started the 2024 season consistently, recording multiple top-10 finishes. Utilizing his extensive oval experience in NASCAR Peak Mexico Series, Super Copa GTM and USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tires, de Alba never finished outside of the top five on ovals. Notably, while at Iowa Speedway he maneuvered seven spots up the field to secure his first INDY NXT career podium, rounding out a monumental day with an Andretti podium sweep. He experienced further oval race success at the 2024 INDY NXT season’s penultimate event at the Milwaukee Mile, where de Alba landed his second INDY NXT career podium with a third-place finish. Other accolades he collected during his rookie season include five top-five and nine top-10 finishes, all leading him to round out the top five in the Driver’s Championship standings by the final race of the year.

“After a strong INDY NXT rookie season, we’re thrilled to transition Salvador from our technical partnership with Cape Motorsports into our 2025 Andretti INDY NXT lineup,” said Andretti Global President, J-F Thormann. “Salvador showed so much potential and progress in his first INDY NXT season, coming away with multiple podiums and finishing fifth in the Championship, and we have no doubt that he’ll continue that forward trajectory in his sophomore season.”

De Alba will make his on-track debut as a full-time Andretti INDY NXT driver at the Chris Griffis Memorial Test on October 18th alongside already announced rookie teammate Lochie Hughes and the rest of the team’s 2025 lineup.
