Andretti Formula E Returns to Monaco for Iconic Doubleheader Showdown

5.13.26

Andretti Formula E heads to the streets of Monaco for Rounds 9 and 10 of Season 12, as the Championship returns to its most iconic and prestigious venue for a second consecutive doubleheader. The 3.337km, 19-turn Circuit de Monaco, featuring legendary corners such as Casino Square, the Grand Hotel Hairpin and La Rascasse, presents a unique challenge with its tight confines, elevation changes and high-speed sections, demanding precision and energy management in equal measure. Following an action-packed Berlin doubleheader, the team arrives with momentum, as Felipe Drugovich secured his first points for Andretti and back-to-back Duel appearances, while Jake Dennis continues to demonstrate consistency at the front of the field.

Andretti has a strong record in Monaco, scoring points in seven of nine races and securing two podiums through Dennis, who has finished every race he has started at the circuit. Drugovich returns to a venue where he previously enjoyed success in FIA Formula 2, claiming pole position and victory in 2022, with two additional podiums from his 2021 campaign. With Formula E’s infamous number of overtakes and Saturday featuring a PIT BOOST race, Monaco promises another thrilling chapter this coming weekend.

Andretti Formula E

  • Andretti Formula E is only one of two teams to have claimed two Fastest Laps in Monaco (Jean-Éric Vergne, Season 1 and Jake Dennis, Season 9).
  • To date, the US team has scored points in seven of the nine Monaco E-Prix, achieving 58 Championship points and two podiums courtesy of Jake Dennis (Season 9 and Season 11).
  • By leading a lap and reaching the Duels at last year’s Monaco E-Prix, Andretti marked Monaco as the 21st city in which it has led a race and the 13th where it has reached the Duels.
  • Andretti drivers secured three top-10 finishes across the Monaco doubleheader last season, with the team having led a total of five laps at the iconic circuit, most recently by Nico Mueller in Season 11.
  • Should the team claim a front-row start during the Monaco doubleheader weekend, Andretti Formula E will equal the record (Nissan, Techeetah) for most front-row starts in the most cities (17).

Jake Dennis

  • Jake Dennis has secured two podiums in Monaco (Season 9, Season 11), scoring 35 Championship points and a Fastest Lap, while finishing every race he has started at the circuit.
  • At the 2023 Monaco E-Prix, the British driver claimed a podium finish from 11th on the grid, becoming only one of two drivers to start outside the top 10 and finish in the top three at the Monte Carlo Street Circuit.
  • The Season 9 World Champion has had a balanced qualifying record in Monaco, qualifying in the top 10 once across six appearances and holding a 3–3 head-to-head record against his teammates.
  • Should he start both races of the 2026 Monaco E-Prix doubleheader, Dennis will become the 13th most experienced Formula E driver with 89 race starts, overtaking Oliver Turvey.

Felipe Drugovich

  • Last time out at the 2026 Hankook Berlin E-Prix doubleheader, Felipe Drugovich claimed his first back-to-back Duel appearance in Formula E.
  • The Brazilian driver claimed his first points for Andretti in Berlin, becoming the 17th driver to have scored points for the team – four more than any other team on the grid.
  • Sunday’s E-Prix in Monaco will be the No. 28 driver’s 10th race for the team, becoming the 11th driver to have entered 10 or more races for Andretti.
  • The last time Drugovich raced in Monaco, he claimed pole position and victory en route to his 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship title, having also secured two other podium finishes there across the 2021 season.

“Monaco is always a special event for drivers. I’ve had some good results from racing here, so we’ll be aiming to replicate the same again. Qualifying will be considerably more important this weekend compared with other races, so we need to try and get the car in a good window from the offset in Free Practice 1. It’s generally quite difficult to overtake in Monaco, and with the races being shorter this year, it only adds to that challenge. Though if you have a good car and some positive energy delta to those ahead, you do have the opportunity to make your way through. Last time out in Berlin, we scored some decent points but lacked some speed in qualifying, so it’s crucial we focus on improving that heading into this weekend. Nonetheless, I’ve got faith in the team, and I’m confident we’ll have a good car to be able to fight at the sharp end.”

“Berlin was a good boost of confidence for me. It’s essentially what I needed, especially with how qualifying went. The results from both races are not where we want to be as we always aim to be fighting at the front but, all in all, I think it’s important to take the positives and improve from there. Monaco is going to be a very different race, so that also fills me with quite a lot of confidence. I’ve had some success racing in Monaco in the past, and I think the experience from racing around the unique circuit is quite transferable. Albeit, the cars I’ve driven there before are completely different, on a push lap, I think you’re able to draw some knowledge from previous experiences of the track. The characteristics from the track are still the same, so hopefully I can translate that into the weekend, especially given the importance of track position.

Monaco will mark my 10th race for the team, and I’m feeling very much at home now. The team welcomed me with open arms since day one, and it’s all starting to come together on the engineering side. It takes time to build that relationship with your engineers; time for them to get to know you, how you work and how you like the car and vice versa. Things are definitely coming together, and we need to keep it heading in a positive direction because we’re improving race by race and moving forward. We’ll be aiming to continue our momentum from Berlin and deliver a strong race weekend in Monaco.”

Roger Griffiths

Team Principal

“With both cars in the points during the final race in Berlin, the team achieved an important milestone and demonstrated that progress had been made. It’s a great confidence boost for us. Heading into the Monaco race weekend, the team is familiar with the importance of hitting the ground running from the first practice session. The Monaco weekend format is unique, with four sessions on the first day, so maximizing time on track is going to be vital to a successful weekend. It’s difficult to come through the field successfully from a low starting position, and while overtaking in the Principality is not as difficult as in other Championships, starting towards the front reduces the risk of a mistake in trying to make up track position. I don’t believe any driver holds back in qualifying, but everyone knows the unforgiving nature of the track.”
