Andretti Formula E Chases Continued Season 12 Success in Mexico City

Andretti Formula E heads to Mexico City for Round 2 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with strong momentum after a winning start to Season 12 in São Paulo that saw Jake Dennis claim victory and the lead to both the Drivers’ and Teams’ standings. The challenge now shifts to one of the fastest and most demanding venues on the calendar, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, complete with long straights and a technical infield through the iconic Foro Sol stadium, all situated at 2,250 meters above sea level.
Now featuring a revised 16-turn layout designed to encourage overtaking, the Mexico City E-Prix has become a proven indicator of Championship success, with each of the last three Formula E World Champions having won in the Mexican capital in the same season. The event also marks Andretti Formula E’s 150th race in the Championship, a milestone that underlines the team’s consistency and longevity. With a strong record in the Mexican capital and Dennis already a past winner at the venue, Andretti arrives focused on building an early-season advantage.

Throughout the team’s 150 starts, Andretti Formula E has amassed 12 wins, 40 podiums, 14 pole positions, 17 fastest laps, 454 laps led, 1,394 points scored and a Drivers’ World Championship title in Season 9.
- Andretti Formula E has secured double points in every Mexico City race of the GEN3 era and has also claimed three Duel victories in the Mexican capital, with only Porsche Formula E scoring more.
- The Season 9 Mexico City E-Prix was the only time both Andretti Formula E drivers reached the Duel Semi-Finals in the same qualifying session.
- Andretti Formula E has scored points in 10 of the 11 races held in Mexico and is the only current team on the grid with three Fastest Laps in Mexico City (Alexander Sims – 2020, Jake Dennis – 2023, 2025).
- Throughout the team’s 11 Mexico City E-Prixs, the American outfit has scored 102 points, making them one of only two teams to surpass 100 points in the Mexican capital. Mexico City is also one of four race markets where Andretti Formula E has broken the 100-point mark (Berlin – 134 points, Diriyah – 162 points, London – 164 points).
- The largest lead that the Indianapolis-based team has held in the Team’s Championship Standings is 14 points on two separate occasions, both having happened as a result of the Mexico City race weekend (Season 6, 9).
Jake Dennis
- After Jake Dennis’ victory at the Season 12 São Paulo opener, the Brit surpassed 100 championship points scored in 2025, extending his run of 100-plus points to four consecutive years (2022-2025).
- In his fourth win starting from the pole, Dennis claimed his seventh career Formula E victory at Season 12’s opening round, becoming the first driver in the series’ history to win the São Paulo E-Prix from the top grid starting position. The result put Dennis atop the Drivers’ Championship standings and Andretti to the lead in the Teams’ standings.
- The Season 9 World Champion led the Drivers’ Championship for the first time in his Formula E career after winning the 2023 Mexico City E-Prix, where he also became the only Mexico City race winner to set the Fastest Lap in the same race.
- The British driver has previously led 34 laps in Mexico City and has taken one front-row start.
- Dennis has been in Group B in all four previous Mexico City qualifying sessions; however, with the No. 27 driver currently leading the Championship battle, he will be in Group A for the first time.
Felipe Drugovich
- The 2026 Hankook Mexico City E-Prix will mark Felipe Drugovich’s fourth career Formula E race start, with his first two outings coming at the Season 11 Berlin doubleheader and his most recent start in the Season 12 opener in São Paulo.
- While this weekend will be the Brazilian driver’s first Formula E start in Mexico City, Drugovich is no stranger to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit, having taken part in Free Practice 1 at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix for the Aston Martin Formula One Team.
Nerea Martí
- Ahead of the 2026 Hankook Mexico City E-Prix, Andretti Formula E announced that Spanish racing driver Nerea Martí will serve as a Team Ambassador throughout Season 12. Team Quotes
Jake Dennis
No. 27 Andretti Porsche 99X Electric
“Heading into Round 2 with the Championship lead doesn’t really change our approach. Over the off-season, we focused on our weaknesses and worked hard to improve the performance of the car, which clearly paid off in São Paulo. Since then, we’ve kept our focus and composure whilst working hard over the Christmas period. We follow a consistent process of post-race analysis and review of previous E-Prix events at the next race location, so we’ll continue progressing through our standard pre-race checklist to ensure we’re ready to hit the ground running.
We’ve had some good results racing in Mexico in the past, but to have a good performance here, you need to do a lot of work to get the car into the right window. It’s a track at a very high altitude, which means there’s generally quite low grip. The low grip, coupled with thermal tire degradation, makes this race something of a challenge for the drivers and puts extra emphasis on the importance of qualifying. We have a slightly modified track layout this year that looks like it’s going to produce more overtaking, which is great for Formula E and the fans. Ultimately, there’s still a long way to go in Season 12, so we’ll keep our heads down, keep working hard and take everything race by race.”

Felipe Drugovich
No. 28 Andretti Porsche 99X Electric
“Given how quickly São Paulo came around, I think it was a good race debut overall. Our race pace was strong, and we managed to successfully implement a lot of things we had worked on since Valencia. The hot temperatures made race management a little trickier for my first time in the car, but we learned a lot, which gives me quite a bit of confidence heading to Mexico. We’ve got a solid base to build from, and there’s no pressure to expect big results straight away. There are still aspects we can improve on, but with each E-Prix that passes, I’m going to improve my capability to read races better. I’ve got a lot of motivation, and as we take things race by race, I’m confident the results will follow. I’m really looking forward to getting back on track and heading to Mexico. The fans there are incredibly passionate, and it’s a race I’m excited to experience.”

Roger Griffiths
Team Principal

“Leaving São Paulo leading both Championships is extremely rewarding, but we’re very much taking it one race at a time. There’s also a feeling that we could have achieved more, because before the Full Course Yellow there was a real opportunity for a one-two finish, which shows the potential we have as a team. Felipe has a lot more to offer, and I know he’ll be disappointed not to have scored points in his first race with us. Mexico City will be a good opportunity for him to build momentum. Mexico has historically been a strong venue for our team, although it can present its own challenges. It’s a circuit many Formula E drivers know well, which means our priority will be getting Felipe settled in as quickly as possible, particularly in preparation for Qualifying. Jake is a past winner here and understands exactly what it takes to succeed, so our focus is on maximizing performance across both cars and continuing to move forward as a team.”
