Andretti Formula E Goes ‘All In’ for a Doubleheader Debut in Monaco
4.28.25
For the first time in Formula E history, the iconic streets of Monte Carlo will play host to a doubleheader event with back-to-back races this weekend. Andretti Formula E will head to the Principality eager to make its mark and build on past success, including a podium and multiple Fastest Lap accolades. With the introduction of the upgraded GEN3 Evo, complex energy strategies through PIT BOOST and Monaco’s reputation for producing thrilling overtakes, this year’s event promises to be a spectacle. Tune in to watch as Jake Dennis, who currently holds the Formula E race-lap record around the Circuit de Monaco, and Nico Mueller, who will be aiming to use his past Monte Carlo success to his advantage, prepare to tackle the legendary 3.337km, 19-turn track in the all-electric Championship’s crown jewel event.
Monaco made its debut on the Formula E calendar a decade ago in Season 1, with the 2025 Monaco E-Prix marking the eighth edition of the race in the Principality.
The all-new GEN3 Evo will make its debut in the Principality, with performance upgrades providing an estimated 2% performance gain from GEN3, equating to an approximate two-second gain on qualifying laps.
After success in Jeddah, PIT BOOST will return to the Formula E race weekend in Monaco, creating an additional strategic element that the 22-car field will have to tackle on the 3.3km narrow, high-speed circuit.
The 2024 Monaco E-Prix witnessed a staggering 197 overtakes on a track infamous for its limited passing opportunities.
Andretti Formula E
The Andretti Formula E team has claimed two Fastest Laps (Jean-Éric Vergne, Season 1 and Jake Dennis, Season 9) and one podium finish (Jake Dennis, Season 9) in Monaco.
To date, Andretti Formula E has scored points at five of the seven E-Prixs held in the Principality, totalling a combined 31 Championship points.
If Andretti Formula E leads a lap during the 2025 Monaco E-Prix weekend, it will mark the 21st city where the team has done so, while reaching the Duels in qualifying would make Monaco the 13th city where the team has achieved the milestone.
After the 2025 Miami E-Prix, the Andretti Formula E team has now claimed 25 front row qualifying results – the most recent coming from Season 9 World Champion Jake Dennis.
Jake Dennis
Jake Dennis set the Fastest Lap (1:31.119) during the 2023 Monaco E-Prix, which still stands today as the Formula E lap record around the Circuit de Monaco.
The British driver climbed his way to the podium in Season 9 from his grid position of 11th, the lowest grid position a Formula E driver has ever claimed a podium from in Monaco.
The second race of the 2025 Monaco E-Prix race weekend will mark Jake Dennis’ 70th Formula E race, having scored points in 44 of his starts to date.
After Round 5’s Miami E-Prix result, Dennis holds the third-highest ranked average finishing position out of the current grid of drivers with an average race finish of 8.76.
Having reached the Final Duel last race, the British driver has appeared in the final stage of qualifying more than any other driver in Formula E history (11).
Nico Mueller
Nico Mueller surpassed 100 Formula E career points in his last outing at Homestead-Miami Speedway with his fourth-place finish.
Mueller previously tasted success in Monaco when he won during his 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 campaign.
The Swiss driver has out-qualified his teammates in all but one Monaco E-Prix outings (Season 10, 2024).
Round 5’s Miami E-Prix saw the No. 51 driver lead his fifth Formula E race, adding one lap to his tally for a total of 14 career laps led.

“We obviously wanted more from Miami in terms of race result, but I’m feeling confident that we’ve got to the bottom of our qualifying issues. If we want a top result in Monaco, it’s going to be important to start at the front, so I’m hoping we can hit the ground running in Free Practice 1. I’m looking forward to driving the track with the GEN3 Evo package; the all-wheel drive has been a huge step forward, and I think Monaco is going to be one of the tracks where we benefit the most from the upgrades. If we make it into the Duels, it’s going to be a lot of fun pushing the cars to the absolute limit. This will also be the first time that I’ll be able to call Monaco a second home race for me. It’s the one everyone wants to win, and now that I call it home, it’s even more special. We’ve scored a podium here before, so I’m hoping we can better that and try and win this race!”
“We executed a very solid race in Miami last time out and scored some good points, so we’re making some steps in the right direction, which gives a boost of confidence and motivation heading into Monaco. We still have some work ahead of us to extract more performance, but we’ve now proven that when things come together, we have what it takes to score big points. The aim is to now continue with this momentum for the doubleheader in the Principality, which I’ve always loved hustling the car around. Monaco suits the GEN3 package really well, so I can’t wait to get out there with the Evo upgrades. It’s such a demanding track that requires confidence with the car, you have to get close to those guardrails and walls and find the flow. There’s a very nice rhythm to the lap when everything clicks, and it’s a great feeling. Having PIT BOOST back will also be an additional strategic element for the weekend, which will be about judging the risk versus reward window right.”

“The 2025 Monaco E-Prix will make history as the first doubleheader event to take place in the Principality, and while there are double the number of Championship points available, the way the team approaches the weekend is no different to any other. One of the most difficult aspects of Monaco is that there is no Friday afternoon track time like at every other round, so race day becomes very compact. The key is not to have any issues in the early practice otherwise the potential to be on the back-foot for the rest of the day is high. The return of PIT BOOST also introduces increased complexity with race strategy; this additional feature combined with the ease of overtaking at Monaco in Formula E will make for an exciting race weekend for the fans. I’m sure both races will be action packed and hopefully the Andretti Formula E will get through them unscathed.”
