Andretti Formula E Looks to Continue Saudi Arabian Dominance at Jeddah Debut

2.10.25

Andretti Formula E heads to Jeddah with hopes of continuing the team’s strong track record in Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom’s all-electric era moves to a new home. The Indianapolis-based team has achieved podiums in five of the last six seasons and currently boasts the record for the most points scored (162) and laps led (109) in Saudi Arabia. Now, a new challenge awaits on the high-speed, 3km Jeddah Corniche Circuit which will make its Formula E debut with a thrilling doubleheader under the lights. Adding to the excitement, the highly anticipated PIT BOOST will launch in Jeddah, offering drivers a strategic energy boost mid-race. Andretti Formula E will aim to continue its double points-scoring form from Mexico City and uphold its dominance in Saudi Arabia as it takes on this brand-new circuit at Season 11’s only pair of night races.

  • Saudi Arabia is the location of Andretti Formula E’s 250th Championship point in Formula E, a total which it reached during Season 5.

Jake Dennis

  • Jake Dennis is the only Formula E driver with four podiums in Saudi Arabia.
  • The British driver’s largest margin of victory, as well as Andretti’s, was set in Saudi Arabia during Season 10’s 2024 Diriyah E-Prix I (+13:289 seconds).
  • Dennis surpassed 250 career Championship points in Formula E after finishing in second place at the 2023 Diriyah E-Prix I in Season 9.

“It’s Formula E’s first time heading to Jeddah, which will obviously be a new experience for all of us, but thankfully I’ve had some experience there in GT racing. It’s a great location and a fun circuit to drive. We’re not doing the full layout, but I think it will still provide some exciting racing. Jeddah will be all about who is leading at the right time and not so much about the qualifying result. Our previous outing in Mexico has given us confidence heading into the next few races, and I think the team is in good spirits and working well. I certainly feel as if my driving is in good form, so I feel like we’re all pretty pumped to get back to racing again. It’s also the only night race event of the year which is always exciting. Moreover, being the first doubleheader, it’s crucial we secure a big points haul to get our Championship fight in a healthy place. Nico and I will be aiming to have good pace right out the blocks in Free Practice 1 and hopefully be at the right place at the right time when it comes to the race.”

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming races in Jeddah. I think in my case it’s good timing for the first doubleheader of the season, particularly being new to the team and still learning the new car. Having two consecutive race days will hopefully allow us to continue to progress and apply our learnings from the previous round in Mexico. Last time out we showed good pace and were in the fight for a top-five result. Unfortunately, we didn’t fully optimize our strategy which put us on the back foot and some other small issues cost us more positions at the end, but it was still a good showing with some important lessons that we can take into Jeddah. It’s going to be an intense week, but I’m looking forward to getting that first doubleheader under our belts. The introduction of PIT BOOST is another variable that we will have to prepare for too. Strategically, it will change the dynamic of the race, and I expect we’ll see a completely different race compared to the other.”

“It’s always exciting to visit a new city on the Formula E calendar, especially a modern one like Jeddah. The Jeddah Corniche track will have a unique layout compared to its usual configuration, however, I am sure it will generate some exciting racing. With several tight 90-degree turns and a hairpin, fans will get a front seat view of the acceleration of the GEN3 Evo.

The long-awaited PIT BOOST will also make its Formula E debut in Saudi Arabia, though at this stage it is difficult to say what the direct impact of it will be. It certainly adds an intriguing opportunity for teams and drivers to try and influence the race result. While the theoretical best strategy may tell you to go down one route, as we all know, Formula E races are extremely dynamic and the so-called optimal strategy may not be the one that produces the best result. We certainly could see some unexpected cars in significant points-scoring positions come the end of the race.”
