RACE RECAP: REV GROUP GRAND PRIX AT ROAD AMERICA

7.13.20

The first of two consecutive doubleheader weekends is complete for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with the conclusion of Sunday’s Round 4 at Road America.

The 27 AutoNation / NAPA AUTO PARTS car of Alexander Rossi topped off the weekend for the team with a podium finish Sunday. Collectively, the party of five leaves Wisconsin with four top-five finishes over the two race events as Ryan Hunter-Reay secured fourth place Saturday while Colton Herta collected a pair of top-five finishes for the Capstone Turbine team.

Zach Veach entered the weekend hoping to collect solid points for the 26 team, and drove a clean weekend for a duo of 16th-place finishes. The Gainbridge crew moves on to one of Veach’s favorite circuits, Iowa Speedway, where the team showed promising speeds in 2019.

The double-race weekend was unkind to Marco Andretti as the 98 crew, with debris setting the team back in the pits on Saturday, followed be a mechanical issue that ultimately ended the Race 1 early for the U.S. Concrete team. Sunday’s fate resulted in none better for Andretti who went home 19th.

The odds were not in favor of Hunter-Reay in Sunday’s race as the 28 car was hit from behind on the opening lap and taken out of the day’s 55-lap feature shortly after the green flag.
