Five-time
Indianapolis 500 champions Andretti Autosport has joined Stratasys in creating
3D printed portions of PPE for frontline medical personnel. Stratasys, the official
3D printing partner of Andretti Autosport, has launched an initiative bringing together
over 1200 of their customers including 7 of their Performance Partners from
autosports and yacht racing using Stratasys 3D printers to produce components of
face shields that will then be assembled by Stratasys and distributed to
medical facilities in need.

“We are extremely
proud to join the Stratasys community in helping to produce 3D printed portions
of face shields. Our medical workers and first responders are the front line of
helping to protect our Nation right now, and we’re happy to help to protect
them in any way we can,”
said Michael Andretti, Chairman
& CEO of Andretti Autosport.

Stratasys has already
distributed over 30,000 shields in
March and a total of 120,000 planned for delivery in April.

“Stratasys is
proud to partner with Andretti Autosport to utilize our products in creative
ways,”
said Allen Kreemer, Stratasys Senior Strategic Applications Engineer. “The
fast response from Andretti Autosport staff to assist in our 3D printed COVID19
face shield initiative has been another wonderful example of this successful
partnership.”

Andretti Autosport
has two Stratasys 3D printers: an
F370 and a 450mc and is working heavily with the team’s Andretti
Technologies counterpart on the project. Typically, these printers are purposed
for printing components for everyday racing operations but are being reallocated
to printing shield components during the COVID-19 crisis. With both printers
working simultaneously, Andretti Autosport will be able to print components for
approximately 100 shields every 72 hours.

“When we learned of
the opportunity to join Stratasys in this initiative, we knew right away that
we wanted to help and do our part in representing the racing community in this
fight,”
said Andretti Technologies Managing Director, Marissa Andretti, “We are
proud to assist in the efforts to provide PPE to the front-line workers
fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. It is important to us to help in any way we can
to make a difference, and to do so as quickly as possible during this time.”
