6.16.16

INDIANAPOLIS (June 16, 2016) – Andretti Technologies begun its on-track testing program in preparation for Season 3 of the FIA Formula E series.

The TE Connectivity test car, which was on the Snetterton track last week, is scheduled to run throughout June and July. Andretti Technologies operates the test program for the Andretti Formula E Team as the technology incubation and advanced engineering arm of Andretti Autosport.

The test sessions have focused around race power levels and qualifying simulations. The data collection will implement developments made to the car by Andretti Technologies with the help of TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectivity and sensor solutions.

The car has already been tested at a variety of venues with various drivers behind the wheel including driver of the No. 27 Amlin Andretti car Robin Frijns.

Specific developments will be announced closer to the start of the 2016/2017season. In comparison to being a spec series two years ago, manufacturers can develop the car’s powertrain, rear suspension, gearbox and cooling systems for Season 3. The goal of the allowed development is to spur major technological advancements in the electric automotive industry.

Co-Team Principal, Roger Griffiths has been on site during some of the test sessions and is so far pleased with the work in progress..

“We’re very excited to have our program up and running,” Griffiths said. “The results we’ve seen thus far have met and exceeded our expectations for where we thought we would be at this point in development. The feedback we have received from all drivers has been very encouraging. We’ll continue working hard as we move forward to Season 3.”

Andretti Technologies is scheduled to keep the TE Connectivity test car busy through the off-season as it continues to develop a competitive 2016/2017 Formula E car. One that’s sure to put the team on top of the podium as it aims to fight for and find its first series win. The optimizations made while testing will be transferred to the Amlin Andretti race car in time for Season 3 kickoff in Hong Kong, October 8-9, 2016.
