SCOTT SPEED, NO. 41 MERCHANT FIRST BEETLE
– Speed sealed the deal in Los Angeles, stealing his second first-place finish of the Global Rallycross doubleheader weekend.
– The California-native now sits in the second position in the championship point standings after his podium sweep in Los Angeles.
“It’s been a great weekend, obviously at the beginning of the season we struggled a bit, but with a new program like this you’re bound to have problems and we have had them. I think our Beetles are dialed in, they are fast and durable, so I see us as a major threat for the championship. I couldn’t be happier, I feel so lucky to be able to drive this Merchant First Beetle and I have a great teammate, a great team and I cannot say enough good things about Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross.”
TANNER FOUST, NO. 34 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK BEETLE
– The California resident ended the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle’s day in Los Angeles in the third position, capturing his second podium finish during the doubleheader weekend.
– Foust battled his way to the top during this morning’s early heat run and semifinal session, the four-time X Games gold medalist captured more than 50 points towards his championship hunt.
“I think I started in sixth place coming around the fifth corner which is the one right before the jump and it was just mayhem. I felt pretty fortunate to get back up into the third position and the Volkswagen Beetles we’re just flying all weekend. Scott (Speed) got out of the pack quick today with a clean sweep and he was just super fast. Both of our cars have been incredible in Los Angeles, so we’re stoked. I don’t know what that does for the championship, but it’s definitely made it interesting now.”
