Andretti Autosport named to RACER’s ‘Great Team’
Championship race team Andretti Autosport has been selected as one of RACER’s greatest teams for the Great Teams II issue, set to arrive on subscribers’ doorsteps today.
“RACER is a staple of motorsport coverage,” said team owner Michael Andretti, “we are honored to join the ranks of the Great Teams. From our drivers and mechanics, to all of our support staff, the Andretti Autosport family of race teams strives to maintain a level of excellency, making praises like this possible.”
The multi-page feature story in the issue includes insight on Andretti Autosport’s increasingly diverse portfolio of motorsports activities, and explores how the reigning Indianapolis 500 champs ensure a winning mindset is at the core of all of its activities. Add in standalone elements on the multi-car Verizon IndyCar Series attack, FIA Formula E Championship, Global Rallycross with partner VW, Mazda Road to Indy programs and its burgeoning sports marketing operations, and it’s a fascinating look at how one of North America’s leading race teams brings quantity and quality to the track.
“RACER’s annual Great Teams issue celebrates motorsports powerhouses from the past and the present,” says RACER editor David Malsher. “For us, Andretti Autosport is a terrific example of a modern-day great team. It has responded brilliantly to the challenges and opportunities of a changing motorsports landscape, building a diverse, yet complementary portfolio of programs – but it’s never forgotten that, in the end, winning races and championships is what matters above all else.
“As the reigning Indianapolis 500 champion, with driver Ryan Hunter-Reay, there could be no better time to showcase Andretti Autosport.”
The issue, available for digital download May 20, features cover art by Ricardo Santos and features Marco Andretti’s Verizon IndyCar Series superspeedway-spec Honda in Snapple livery; Shelby Blackstock’s Indy Lights car; Weiron Tan’s Pro Mazda car; Andretti Formula E’s entry of Jean-Eric Vergne’s, and the Rockstar Energy Drink VW Beetle of Tanner Foust.
Internal illustrations by Paul Laguette showcase all 12 cars of the diverse Andretti stable: 5 IndyCar Series entries (2015 Indy 500 – superspeedway spec); 3 Mazda Road to Indy cars (1 Indy Lights; 2 Pro Mazda); 2 FIA Formula E all-electric cars; 2 VW Beetles from GRC competition.
