  • After a challenging start to the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham weekend due to delays with the track build, the green flag finally waved on the Streets of Markham for today’s 90-lap race.
  • Marcus Ericsson led the Andretti stable to green from the second row, while teammates Kyle Kirkwood and Will Power started toward the back after a challenging qualifying session and a pair of grid penalties for unapproved engine changes for the No. 26 and No. 27 entries.
  • Ericsson consistently ran near the front of the field for the duration of the race before the No. 28 RVI Group Honda moved into the lead for the final time with just four laps to go. Ericsson ultimately took today’s checkered flag in first, scoring Andretti Global’s 79th INDYCAR win.
  • Power joined teammate Ericsson on the podium for Andretti’s second double podium of the 2026 season.
  • With today’s win, Andretti Global has won both of the new races on the 2026 INDYCAR calendar after Kirkwood scored the inaugural win on the Streets of Arlington earlier this season. Next weekend’s race in D.C. is the final new race of the year.

No. 26 TWG AI Honda

  • A tough qualifying session and a six-position grid penalty for an unapproved engine change put the No. 26 TWG AI Honda at the back of the field to start today’s race.
  • Starting in 25th, Will Power wasted no time making his way forward, breaking into the top 10 by Lap 20 and consistently running in that vicinity for the majority of today’s race.
  • Despite the yellow-riddled race, the No. 26 pit stand consistently made the right calls to help Power get into contention for a podium finish, and the final stop of the race positioned Power for what would ultimately be his 13th podium finish and 24th top-five.
  • Power and the No. 26 team earned the Josten’s Biggest Mover Award in today’s race after charging from last to third, advancing 22 positions throughout the race.

“It was a great day. We were very good on restarts and just solid overall. Before the race, I was wondering what might happen to us today. I was so mad at myself for qualifying, but the No. 26 team did such a good job. They worked so hard overnight. They fixed the car, did an engine change and worked until 12:30 a.m. Most of them got maybe two hours of sleep, so I’m glad I could repay them with a podium. For the team as a whole, we really needed to win. So it’s awesome for Marcus to have gotten that today. I was hoping we could get a one, two, three there for a bit because we were looking pretty good, but that didn’t come our way. I think that it was a pretty cool race. We weren’t sure how it would play out, but it was pretty awesome.”

No. 27 Sam’s Club Honda

  • On a track type that has traditionally suited Kyle Kirkwood, the American driver finished this weekend just as frustrated as he started it in qualifying the day before.
  • After a six-spot grid penalty for an unapproved engine change put the No. 27 Sam’s Club Honda back into 22nd on the starting grid, Kirkwood had his work cut out for him in today’s 90-lap race. Kirkwood quickly began moving up through the field as the cautions began falling on Lap 15, breaking into the top 10 near the 20-lap mark.
  • The Sam’s Club pit stand’s strategy, heads-up driving from Kirkwood and quick pit stops steadily worked the No. 27 into contention for at least a top-five result, even running in fourth, just past the halfway mark, behind teammates Power and Ericsson for what looked like could potentially turn into an All Andretti podium.
  • Unfortunately, a mistake by Kirkwood in Turn 3 on Lap 54, put the No. 27 Sam’s Club Honda into the wall, ending a strong charge to the front for the team.

“That one was on me. The Sam’s Club Honda was fast. We had everything thrown at us from the beginning to the middle of that race. There were so many different strategies going on. It looks like we were in the hot seat there between all three of the Andretti drivers, and obviously, two of them finished up front today. So, that was disappointing. I turned in [to Turn 3] and thought I was fine just wrapping around the wall, but there are no radius walls here, so there’s a bunch of points in the walls, almost like gator teeth, that are sticking out, and I just clipped one of those. That one’s definitely on me, so I just feel really bad for the team. They produced a really good car, and we had a long day yesterday. We’ll wrap this thing up and leave knowing that we came out of the gate here really, really strong and go into D.C. with our heads held high. Congrats to Marcus and Will on getting a one-three finish for the team today.”

Marcus Ericsson

No. 28 RVI Group Honda

  • Marcus Ericsson proved to be Andretti’s standout this weekend on the Streets of Markham, starting on Saturday when the Swede locked in a second-row starting position for today’s race and culminating with today’s impressive victory.
  • Ericsson opened the race cleanly, holding his position in fourth and remaining steady in what was a chaotic 90 laps of on-track action. The No. 28 RVI Group Honda ran consistently in the top five for the majority of the race, only falling outside during pit cycles.
  • Making a late-race charge in the final stages, Ericsson first passed his teammate Power for second in the tight hairpin before passing the No. 19 for the lead on Lap 84.
  • Today’s result marks Ericsson’s fifth career INDYCAR win, and his first with Andretti.
  • Ericsson recorded the fastest lap of the race on Lap 68 with a fast lap time of 1:14.269 and led 21 laps.

“The RVI Group Honda was fantastic. It was just unreal all day, really, but it still was a difficult race. This new track has been challenging for all of us, and there were a lot of incidents throughout the weekend. Then in the race, we were looking strong, but there were a lot of cautions to the point where we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to get back to the lead. Thankfully, the pace that we had in that second half of the race was incredible, and then the passes I had to make to get back to the lead were definitely on the limit, but it was a lot of fun.”
