Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital Patient Ambassadors Inspire Special Portland Activation with Marcus Ericsson and Delaware Life 

As the green flag waves this weekend for the  OnlyBulls  Grand Prix of Portland, the No. 28 Delaware Life Honda driven by Marcus Ericsson will feature a special rear wing design created in collaboration with longtime Andretti Global partner Delaware Life and patient ambassadors from Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. The patient ambassadors who helped design Ericsson’s Delaware Life sponsor hats  earlier this season also added their handprints and signatures to the rear wing of the No. 28 Honda for the Portland race. 

The design came together during a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last month where Ericsson surprised the  patient  ambassadors after they toured the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and the track. During the visit, each ambassador added their handprints and signatures to pieces of paper which were later incorporated into the No. 28 rear wing. Their handprints and signatures will also appear on the No. 28 crew helmets, while Chloe’s will be featured on Ericsson’s helmet.

For one of those patient ambassadors, Chloe, the project will come full circle this weekend as she attends her first NTT INDYCAR SERIES race alongside her family, her kidney donor, Kate and Kate’s family, who are from the Portland area.  Throughout the weekend, Chloe’s artwork will also be featured on Ericsson’s Delaware Life sponsor hat that she designed for him earlier this season. 

“This has been an incredible experience for our family,” said Lauren Creger, Chloe’s mom. “Seeing Chloe’s artwork and story become part of Marcus’ race while also supporting Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, where they saved her life many times during her medical journey, means more than we can put into words. We’re so grateful to Marcus, Delaware Life, the Andretti team and everyone who has made Chloe feel so special. Watching him race in Portland, where her kidney donor lives, makes this experience even more meaningful for our family.” 

In addition to seeing her designs on track, Chloe will spend time with the Andretti Global team throughout the weekend.  She will serve as an honorary Junior Crew Chief by the No. 28 Delaware Life Honda crew, spend time with  the  Andretti INDYCAR drivers, tour the FOX Sports production truck and participate  in Driver Introductions with Ericsson on Sunday.  

“Chloe seems really excited about coming out to Portland, and we’re looking forward to having her  at the track,” said Ericsson. “To be able to help, even in a small way, means a lot to me. Getting to know Chloe and the other patient ambassadors this year and seeing what it means to them to have their handprints and signatures on my car is what makes it really special.” 

The No. 28  Delaware Life Honda with the special Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital rear wing will take to the track for opening practice on Friday, August 7, with the race airing live on FOX at  4  p.m. ET on Sunday, August 9.
