RACE REPORT: 2025 Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix I

7.26.25

  • Returning to the London ExCeL for the final rounds of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s 11th season, the Andretti Formula E team was back in action for the final time this weekend, determined to maximize point-scoring opportunities to elevate the team in the final Championship Standings.
  • Both Jake Dennis and Nico Mueller were unable to progress into the Qualifying Duels, narrowly missing out on securing a starting spot in the top eight.
  • As the E-Prix began, both Andretti Formula E drivers were able to avoid the opening-lap crash ahead, which brought out the first Safety Car.
  • Though Dennis’ PIT BOOST charger failed during his stop, the British driver was able to use his final Attack Mode to make his way through the field and take the checkered in fifth. Unfortunately, a post-race penalty for a minor collision with Nissan Formula E team’s Oliver Rowland dropped Dennis down to eighth.
  • On the other side of the garage, a late PIT BOOST strategy for Mueller unfortunately demoted him down to 17th when re-emerging on track. Though the Swiss driver had his final Attack Mode to use in the closing stages of the E-Prix, contact from Envision Racing’s Sébastien Buemi put him into the wall, ending his race.
  • The No. 27 driver’s eighth-place finish marks the Andretti Formula E team’s 123rd top-10 result in the all-electric series.
  • With the final race of the Season 11 calendar taking place tomorrow, the battle for the top non-manufacturer spot in the Teams’ Standings is still in play as Andretti Formula E heads into the finale aiming for fifth place.

Jake Dennis

No. 27 Andretti Porsche 99X Electric

Qualifying

  • Dennis took part in Group B of Qualifying, though he unfortunately missed out on the Duels, taking the checkered in sixth.

Race

  • Dennis started strong and was able to make his way up to seventh, putting him in a good position for the non-energy, limited race ahead.
  • Despite the PIT BOOST charger failure during his stop on Lap 17, the British driver took Attack Mode on his out lap, which enabled him to stay in the points-scoring positions as the field took the mandatory stop.
  • Dennis took his final Attack Mode on Lap 29 and was able to utilize the extra 50 kWh of power to gain five positions, placing himself fifth, where he would go on to take the checkered flag. Unfortunately, a five-second time penalty issued post-race for contact with Nissan’s Oliver Rowland at Turn 5 demoted Dennis to eighth.
  • Dennis’ result today marks his 49th career top-ten finish.

“Overall, a pretty difficult day and not quite what we were hoping for after a promising Friday. Qualifying both cars in 10th and 11th wasn’t the best, but we had a pretty good race and finished fifth on track. Unfortunately, we picked up a post-race penalty, which was pretty harsh, but we’ve got one more go tomorrow.
We’ll try and reinvent a few things overnight and go again. We’ll be aiming to try and catch one of the teams in the standings and move ourselves up in the order.”

Nico Mueller

No. 51 Andretti Porsche 99X Electric

Qualifying

  • Mueller was on the verge of progressing into the Duels, however, he missed out by just 0.052 hundredths of a second, finishing fifth in Group A.

Race

  • Mueller was able to avoid the opening-lap contact ahead and retain his 10th-place position.
  • Opting for a late PIT BOOST stop, having taken his first Attack Mode on Lap 21, the Swiss driver emerged 17th on track and had to use his second Attack Mode to try to make his way back through the field.
  • Unfortunately, on Lap 36, contact from Envision Racing’s Sébastien Buemi behind put Mueller into the barrier at Turn 17. Although the No. 51 driver managed to get going again, it effectively ended his race.

“Our day started off well with decent pace in Free Practice 2 and we were unfortunate to just miss out on the Duels, though we were still able to secure a top-10 start. As the race unfolded, we seemed to be finding ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. It looked as if we could pull off a points finish towards the end with our late Attack Mode, but [Sebastian] Buemi unfortunately ended our race when he hit me from behind. There’s still some positives to take in to tomorrow where I’ll be giving it my all.”

Roger Griffiths

Team Principal

“A frustrating day in London. From the outset, we showed good pace and we just missed out on the Duels after a super tight Qualifying, though we still managed to secure decent starting spots.

A really strong opening lap from Jake set him up well for the race, but unfortunately, we suffered a failure with the PIT BOOST charger. As today’s E-Prix wasn’t such an energy-limited race, it didn’t impact us quite in the same way as the previous failure in Monaco did. However, a post-race penalty, which I think all of us on the team feel is very severe for the circumstances, demoted Jake down to eighth. Formula E is not a contact sport, but there is an amount of contact in this side-by-side style of racing. The incident didn’t result in a loss of position for Oliver [Rowland] or for him being unable to continue, so to take a penalty like that is pretty tough.

Nico was looking in contention for the points at the closing stages of the race, but was hit by another driver which ultimately put him in. the wall and took him out of contention. Though we’re feeling a little hard done by today, we’ll come back more determined tomorrow to fight at the front and finish the season as strongly as possible.”
