Oliver Askew Reunites with Andretti Formula E as Additional Reserve Driver

4.4.25

Ahead of the team’s home race at the 2025 Miami E-Prix, Andretti Formula E is pleased to announce that Oliver Askew will rejoin the team as an Additional Reserve Driver for the remainder of Season 11. The Florida native will provide crucial support to the Indianapolis-based squad alongside Jak Crawford, the team’s Reserve and Development Driver, ensuring the team remains prepared for any scenario throughout the season.

With Crawford committed to a full-time Formula 2 campaign, Askew will attend the race weekends where scheduling conflicts arise, currently including Miami, Tokyo, Shanghai and London. The move marks a homecoming for Askew, who previously raced for Andretti in Formula E during Season 8 (2021-22), scoring points on debut and earning Rookie of the Year honors.

On rejoining Andretti Formula E, Additional Reserve Driver Askew said, “I’m thrilled to reunite with this talented team, especially since so many familiar faces from Season 8 are still onboard. I can’t wait to dive in and support the team in fine-tuning the car on the simulator as we push through the rest of the season together.”

His deep familiarity with the Formula E, coupled with his prior success in Andretti machinery – including an INDY NXT Championship title in 2019 – positions the American driver as a fitting addition to the team’s driver lineup. Beyond race weekend duties, Askew will play an integral role in the development of Andretti’s GEN3 Evo Porsche 99X Electric, working in the team’s simulator to refine car setups and test software updates.

“While Jak remains our primary Reserve and Development Driver, due to overlapping calendars with Formula E and Formula 2, it’s an advantage for us to have the ability to bring in an Additional Reserve Driver – particularly someone of Oliver’s caliber – in such a demanding Championship”, said Andretti Formula E Team Principal Roger Griffiths. “Oliver’s prior experience with our team and knowledgeable understanding of the series make him an excellent fit, and we’re confident he will provide valuable input behind the scenes.”

Askew’s journey through motorsport has been steeped in success, dating back to his Team USA Scholarship win in 2016 before dominating the Road to Indy, securing both the 2017 USF2000 and 2019 INDY NXT Championships. His career has since spanned INDYCAR, IMSA and Formula E, where he made history as the first full-time American driver to compete in the all-electric series.

Askew’s addition further strengthens the team heading into their highly anticipated home race in Miami on April 12, as Formula E returns to Florida for the first time since Season 1. Fans can catch Jake Dennis and Nico Mueller back in action sporting a special fan-voted livery after a seven-week break.
