INDIANAPOLIS (February 6, 2025) – Andretti Global announced today that Reserve and Development Driver Jak Crawford will represent Andretti Formula E in the Jeddah E-Prix Free Practice 0 Session. The 40-minute, rookie-exclusive session will mark Crawford’s second time driving a Formula E car, and his first outing in the latest GEN3 Evo machinery.

A rising star in single-seater racing, Crawford made his Formula E debut at the 2024 Berlin Rookie Test with Andretti Formula E, where he impressed with the second fastest time of the day. Taking on the role as Andretti Formula E’s Season 11 Reserve and Development Driver, the 19-year-old American will play a key role in the team’s simulator work and setup development at its Banbury headquarters. Crawford’s participation in the recently added Jeddah E-Prix Free Practice 0 Session will provide crucial real-world track time that can be applied to driver-in-the-loop simulation efforts.

Following previous rookie sessions in Rome (2023) and Misano (2024), this marks the first time such a session will take place outside of Italy. Teams have the flexibility to choose which of their cars will be used, with e-motors, batteries and gearboxes coming from the selected car’s season allocation. Additionally, Hankook will provide an extra set of tires for the nominated rookie car.

Fans can tune in to watch Crawford take part in Jeddah’s Free Practice 0 session on the Formula E YouTube Streaming page and via select broadcast channels. The rookie session will take place at 16:00 AST (Arabian Standard Time) on Thursday, February 13, ahead of the first doubleheader this season at the Jeddah E-Prix.

ROGER GRIFFITHS, TEAM PRINCIPAL, ANDRETTI FORMULA E

“After a strong showing at the Berlin Rookie Test last May and extensive simulator time driving the GEN3 Evo, having Jak represent the Andretti Formula E team during the Free Practice 0 session is a key aspect in correlating the work in the virtual world with actual time spent on track. Additionally, increasing his familiarity with the car is vital should Jak need to step in to replace one of our race drivers.”

JAK CRAWFORD, RESERVE AND DEVELOPMENT DRIVER, ANDRETTI FORMULA E

“I’m very excited at the opportunity of driving a Formula E car again, especially as it will be my first time in the GEN3 Evo. I’m super excited to experience the increased acceleration and try out the new all-wheel-drive system. I’m very familiar with the track from driving there in Formula 2, so it will be interesting to compare the experiences. Ultimately, the aim will be to secure important data for the team to put us in the best position possible ahead of our race weekend.”
