12.4.24

Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship kicks off this weekend at the iconic Anhembi Sambadrome in São Paulo, marking Brazil’s debut as the Formula E season opener. Known for its long straights, heavy braking zones and challenging mix of corners, the 11-turn, 2.93km street circuit has a reputation for producing thrilling wheel-to-wheel action and plenty of overtakes.

São Paulo E-Prix
  • The 2024 São Paulo E-Prix will be the third edition of the Formula E race in Brazil, which debuted in 2023 during Season 9, and will be the first time that Brazil will host the opening round of a Formula E season.
  • The São Paulo street circuit features the longest straight on the Season 11 calendar with the Anhembi Sambadrome straight totaling 750 meters.
  • The past two São Paulo E-Prixs have produced plenty of action, culminating in a combined 326 overtakes and 22 lead changes (Season 9 – 114 overtakes, 11 lead changes; Season 10 – 212 overtakes, 11 lead changes).
  • Andretti Formula E has scored the most points of all teams in season openers, scoring 150 Championship points across the last 10 seasons, including two wins and four podiums.
  • São Paulo is only one of two previous race locations, including Monaco, on the Season 11 calendar where Andretti Formula E has not reached the Duels.
  • Last season, the São Paulo E-Prix marked the start of Jake Dennis’ longest scoring streak in Season 10, a four-race run ending in Monaco’s Round 8. Dennis has led two laps in São Paulo, Season 10’s Lap 13 and 14. Intriguingly, the driver leading Lap 14 in São Paulo has always been the reigning World Champion.
  • Both current Andretti Formula E drivers, Dennis and Nico Mueller, have out-qualified their teammates in the previous São Paulo E-Prixs.
Heading into Season 11

Jake Dennis:

  • Has the best average Championship finish of any Formula E driver across his four Formula E seasons (4.25).
  • Claimed three lights to flag victories throughout his Formula E career (the equal record).
  • Shares the record for the most Qualifying Duel Final appearances (10).
  • Scored the most points by any driver during a season with 229, a record he achieved during his Championship-winning Season 9 (49.35% of points available).
  • Holds the record for the most podiums in a season (11, Season 9).
  • Produced four times more Championship points than any other Andretti Formula E driver with 568 points.

Nico Mueller:

  • Outqualified new teammate Dennis eight to six while racing for ABT CUPRA Formula E in Season 10.
  • Gained 20 positions in Season 7’s Valencia E-Prix I (only twice has a driver gained 20 positions in a single race).
  • Will use the No. 51 in Season 11, marking the first time that Andretti Formula E will use the race number and the sixth different car number used by the team throughout the last 10 seasons.

Andretti Formula E:

  • Remains the only team to have led over 50 laps in every GEN2 and GEN3 season.
  • Has won a total of 34 Qualifying Duels (29-Dennis, 4–Nato, 1-Lotterer).
  • Became the first Formula E team to claim four consecutive fastest laps in Season 10’s Berlin E-Prix and Shanghai E-Prix doubleheaders.
  • Holds the record for the youngest winner in Formula E history (Maximilian Günther, 2020 Santiago E-Prix, 22 years and 200 days).
  • Has claimed the fastest lap in 12 races across the last two seasons (38% of all races).

Jake Dennis

No. 27 Andretti Porsche 99X Electric

“I feel refreshed and ready for Season 11. The offseason has been relatively busy with some races for BMW in GT World Challenge, but the racing is keeping me sharp. I’m always excited to race in Brazil with its rich motorsport legacy, but even more so now with it being the opening round of the Championship. It’s going to be great to drive the GEN3 Evo around the São Paulo street circuit – the acceleration is incredible, and the race starts will be amazing for the fans. My past results in Brazil have been mixed, but we’ve always been fast there. Attack Mode is going to be much more powerful this season, so nailing the right strategy will be key to our goal of reaching the podium.”

Nico Mueller

No. 51 Andretti Porsche 99X Electric

“After a productive week of preseason testing that provided us valuable track time to adapt to the new package and a chance to better understand software functions while refining procedures, I’m ready to get Season 11 started in my first outing with Andretti Formula E. The São Paulo Street Circuit is a classic Formula E track – it’s fast, bumpy and its big braking zones and varying grip levels demand precision. Nailing your braking and traction in low-speed corners will be the difference between a good lap and a great one. I’ve settled into the team well and felt welcomed from the start – it’s clear that we share a common goal of maximizing our potential and competing at the front of this ultra-competitive Championship. I can’t wait to get racing in Brazil with Jake – he’s proven himself as one of the very best in the Championship – so I’m excited to learn from him, and together, push each other and the team forward to deliver the best possible results.”

Roger Griffiths

Team Principal

“During the offseason we reflected on how we fell short of performing at our highest level last season, and we found that it wasn’t one major issue, but a series of minor missteps that, in Formula E’s highly competitive environment, made all the difference. For Season 11, our focus is on maximizing every opportunity, and with the introduction of the FIA Manufacturers’ World Championship, we’re also committed to supporting Porsche Motorsport in its quest for this prestigious title. Our new driver lineup pairs Nico with Jake, with Nico already expressing his determination to secure his first Formula E victory. His discipline and strong work ethic make us confident that it’s only a matter of time before the results come.

Preseason testing was very encouraging, as the team quickly adapted to the GEN3 Evo. The offseason work led by our engineering team has created strong alignment between the simulator and track performance. With Porsche’s powertrain, one of the best in the field, and a well-prepared team, we have everything in place to deliver a strong result in Brazil.”
